What are Nicotinates

Filed under: Nicotinates - Administrator @ 10:47 am

While researching treatments for high Cholesterol I came accross a group of drugs called Nicotinates - which include nicotinic acid and its derivatives. It is a member of the vitamin B group and, in high doses it reduces triglycerides and increases HDL cholesterol, and may also slightly reduce LDL cholesterol. They are used mainly in people with raised triglyceride levels. They are mainly used when your hyperlipidaemia has not responded to other medicines. So - maybe I will get to know more about these later.

I have been on a product called Inegy for about 6 weeks now - and I am going back for a blood test in a couple of weeks to see if it has had any affect.
